Jouons Petanque!

Petanque (sounds like "pay-tonk", a French game (similar to the Italian Bocce) where the goal is to throw baseball-sized balls (sometimes made of clay, sometimes made of metal) as close as possible to a small wooden ball, called a cochonnet (Piglet in French).
Looks like Brigitte Bardot, non?

When I was in the South of France I watched a group of elderly gentlemen play petanque. It was late in the day, the afternoon sun was streaming through the trees...the ball flew through the air, thump! thud! landing in a little dust cloud...

Show 'em how it's done girlfriend!

It is serious business...

There is a Petanque tournament in the United States this year! On lovely Amelia Island, Florida:
