FRITTILARIA-CHECKERBOARD LILY

One of my favorite flowers, the cute as a button checkerboard lily. This is from my front yard. They are tiny, the blossom is only about about 2," and the whole plant maybe 5" tall.  I've planted loads of them but this is the only one that comes up year after year...I wonder if the deer like to eat the tender bulbs in the fall...I'd love any ideas, suggestions.
